I finally got access to Wonder Dynamics, which uses AI to replace human actors in a video with CGI characters, and the first video I made has already gone viral on Instagram & Facebook:

It was super easy to use the tool to replace my friend Jhonner with a robot in just a few clicks, and it took about 4 hours for Wonder Dynamics to render the final video.

There were a few glitches that I manually fixed frame by frame with Photoshop (thanks generative fill), but overall the process was fairly straightforward and I was able to create something I never would have been able to before.

The video already has more than 2 million views across FB & IG, so I’d say the reception has been very positive (interestingly, the video only has 1,500 views on YouTube, and just 500 on TikTok).

I already have ideas for more ambitious videos, and I hope to get them out before the novelty of videos like this wears off. Wonder Dynamics also allows the uploading of custom characters, so the possibilities here are nearly limitless.

Videography is an area I’ve been passionate about for many years, but I have zero experience when it comes to VFX & CGI, so it’s amazing to be able to render these effects with just a few clicks. Again and again I am reminded that AI allows me to accomplish things that would have been impossible just a few months ago, and the limit is my imagination.
