Came across a tweet the other day that low key blew my mind:
The word "decade" is a valid hex color pic.twitter.com/AeFrQ9Z9MO

In my 25+ years of web development, it never occurred to me that there are HEX colors which are also words in English!
I tried using ChatGPT to generate more HEX words (chat link here) and it came up with a few novel words, but also completely made up others or didn’t follow my instructions.
I found an online tool called WordFinderX that actually does a better job. Here are a list of 6-letter words that also describe HEX colors (use only the letters A-F):
- ACCEDE
- BACCAE
- BAFFED
- BEADED
- CABBED
- DABBED
- DAFFED
- DECADE
- DEFACE
- EFFACE
- FABBED
- FACADE
That is a comprehensive list as far as I can tell, at least just using letters. If you substitute “0” for the letter “o” then you can generate more words such as “DEC0DE” or “C0FFEE”.
Anyway, just a random bit of Internet trivia I stumbled across, and a good reminder that ChatGPT isn’t an all powerful tool for all use cases (yet).
